Case Study Competition Overview

  1. The business plan will present a business idea/concept to be validate by the market

  2. Undergraduate Competition: Teams will consist of up to four full-time undergraduate students from any university, offering economics, marketing and management or related degrees, and two mentors/professors as supervisors.

Case Preparation and Presentation Rules

  1. Each team must hand in all the deliverables specified in the business plan.
  2. The deliverables must be handed in through the media specified in the information material related to the business plan.
  3. The deadlines must be followed. If the team exceeds one of the deadlines, the team will be disqualified.
  4. It is allowed to bring textbooks, reference materials, any form of notes, compendiums/readers, collections of articles, and the like.
  5. Participants must not bring their computers. All equipment is provided by the organizer. In the preparation room, there will be laptops, papers, pens, an Internet connection, and a whiteboard.
  6. The business plan should be designed at your assigned location. During the preparation, all case material must remain at your assigned location. It is not allowed for any team member to leave the room before the business plan is handed over to the organizer.
  7. Mobile phones and all other means of communications that might be used with the outside world are prohibited.
  8. The teams are not allowed to discuss the case with anyone outside the team competition unless otherwise specified in the business plan.
  9. When the team is ready to hand in their deliverables, they must hand it on a USB drive provided by the organizer.
  10. The slides must be made in English, and a maximum of 20 slides can be handed in. No appendix is allowed. Each team will make a 15-minute presentation. After the presentation, the committee is allowed to ask for any clarifications.
  11. Each team presents their business plan in the preliminary rounds in front of the committee. From this round, three winning teams will qualify for a final round of presentations in which one team is selected as the winner of the competition.
  12. The teams are not allowed to watch any of the other teams’ presentations in the preliminary round, which is a closed presentation. Furthermore, three best teams, the finalists meet in the last round. This part of the competition is open to all participants and guests.
    Judges’ Criteria
  13. Judges will view the presentations from an investor’s perspective and will evaluate a team’s ability to, concisely, and logically communicate:
    • description of the business idea
    • logical objectives
    • direction and competitive advantage
    • marketing strategy
    • KPIs
